5 TIPS TO HELP YOU DIET WITHOUT STRESS

5 TIPS TO HELP YOU DIET WITHOUT STRESS

Are you stressed out about your diet? Worrying about everything you put in your mouth is only going to make you miserable and undermine your weight loss goals. Banish your food-related anxieties and make dieting easier with these tips.

1. EAT ENOUGH CALORIES

Although a caloric deficit is required to lose weight, cutting back too much results in constant hunger thats both stressful and distracting. Youre much more likely to reach for junk foodwhen all you can think about ishow hungry you are.

Consuming too few calories can cause other health problems such as low blood sugar, restlessness, trouble sleeping and mood swings that add to the stress of dieting.

2.TAKE THE GUESSWORK OUT

Being able to tell the difference between fads and real nutritional wisdom takes the guesswork out of dieting. A lot of what sounds like good diet advice actually has little basis in science. If you follow me on Instagram I try to always include the science based reasons why a certain food, supplement or product works to help you along your weight loss journey.

Learn to be discerning by doing your own research on the health effects of popular food villains like fat and carbohydrates. When you understand how foods work in the body, making healthy choices becomes easier.

3. EAT WHOLE FOODS

Many fad diets that tell you one specific food or ingredient is the magic formula for losing weight, but in reality it’s all about eating the right types of foods not one specific thing.

When you eat a variety of whole grains, fruits, vegetables and beans, you feel satisfied with fewer calories and youll experience better energy thanks to the high level of nutrients in these whole foods!

4. DONT GIVE UP TOO MUCH

Not allowing yourself the occasional treat on your diet leads to feelings of guilt when you fail.” When you feel like you’ve failed your diet you may spiral out of control and completely fall off the wagon.

Instead of labeling unhealthy foods as off-limits, pick a couple of days per month on which you can enjoy a reasonable amount of a something thats not considered diet food. Whether that means a cookie from your favorite bakery or a small serving of your best friends famous chili cheese fries is up to you.

Just keep the portions modest and remind yourself that dieting doesnt have to equal deprivation.

5. MAKE LIFELONG CHANGES

The definition of diet is literally what you eat every day. As you seek to take the stress out of food choices on your weight loss plan, youll discover that certain habits are ones youll want to adopt in the long term. From eating cleaner to steering clear of the office candy dish, repeated healthy practices become easier over time. Youll find yourself enjoying life more and worrying less.

Food should be pleasurable whether or not youre on a diet. Shifting your mindset from one of restriction to one of sustainability and health will guide you toward choices that are not only good for you but also taste delicious and help you stick with your weight loss plan.
